5-Step Solution for Men's Depression

By Josh Holyfield

Depression is a common but serious mood disorder that can affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities. Men, in particular, can experience depression differently than women and may have different ways of coping. In this second episode of the Make America Swole Again Podcast, we delve into a crucial topic - overcoming depression. Drawing from personal experiences, I share practical strategies and solutions specifically tailored for men's mental health.

My Personal Journey with Depression

Depression is a battle I've fought and won. It's a journey that has taught me resilience, understanding, and the importance of mental health. I've learned that overcoming depression requires a combination of strategies, and I'm here to share these with you.

5-Step Solution for Men's Depression

Based on my experiences and learnings, here are five practical steps to overcome depression:

  1. Find a Support System of Men: Engage with other men who share a common goal. This could be through activities like poker night, jiu-jitsu, gym, or any other activity. The idea is to share a collective problem and overcome it together.
  2. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: This includes having a hobby, staying hydrated, maintaining a morning routine, exercising, and having a nutritious diet. Your diet should be high in protein and free from sugars and seed oils.
  3. Exercise Regimen: Regular exercise is crucial. It helps clear your mind, keeps you focused, and is an effective way to combat depression.
  4. Nutrition: Your diet plays a significant role in your mental health. Stick to a diet that's high in protein and includes lean meats, rice, veggies, quinoa, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and fruits. Avoid processed foods and anything with seed oils.
  5. Solve Bigger Problems: If you're doing all of the above and still struggling with depression, it might be because you're not solving big enough problems. Push the envelope with your career or business. The goal is to develop a relationship of trust and confidence with yourself by building a track record of success.

The Importance of Mental Health in Men

Mental health is as important as physical health, and it's time we start treating it that way. As men, we need to break the stigma around mental health and start taking care of our minds as much as we do our bodies.
